The core functions of OCLP include Personal and Professional Grooming Sessions, CV/Cover Letter Writing and Interviewing Workshops, Individual/Group Advisory Services, Mock Interviews, Recruitment Drives, Job Fairs etc.
Q: How can OCLP help me as a currently enrolled Participant/Graduate?
OCLP enhances your personal and professional skills via a wide range of career-related activities such as Counseling and grooming sessions about choosing the right degree majors, Resume Writing Techniques and Training Workshops. Graduates are facilitated in obtaining information and recent updates about the job market. OCLP also advertises information about vacant internship/job opportunity for participants and graduates both.
Q: Does OCLP guarantee Jobs?
No. The OCLP does not guarantee jobs; however, it makes every effort that the candidates are well equipped with all the necessary tools to get the right job. OCLP posts vacant opportunities at their job portal (http://placements.umt.edu.pk/) where participants/graduates register and apply directly by submitting their CV.
Q: How do I come to know about the upcoming OCLP Events and Activities?
It is imperative that students should check their UMT Email Account regularly and maintain regular contact with the OCLP. Graduates/Alumni are requested to check their email account which they provide to the OCLP at the time of clearance for various upcoming events. Q: When can I begin using Career Services? OR When can I make my first visit to OCLP?
Once a participant is enrolled in UMT, he/she should visit OCLP and maintain regular contact with advisors, participate in workshops and must register at the Career Portal (http://placements.umt.edu.pk/) to get latest updates about the activities and events being conducted at the campus.
Q. Does OCLP help me in providing information about latest job opportunities abroad?
Yes. OCLP has signed a MOU with Bayt.com (The Middle East #1 Job Site). Bayt.com shares a web platform with UMT graduates to connect with them and assist them to explore various job opportunities in GCC Countries. The platform is available and accessible under International Jobs panel at OCLP’s job portal or directly at http://studentcareers.umt.edu.pk/
Q: How do I get information on Interview Preparation/CV and Cover Letter Writing?
Participants must pick up an Interview preparation handout from the OCLP. Such sessions can be attended by participants and graduates when announced. The information and schedule about the event will be available at UMT’s event calendar (http://events.umt.edu.pk/), at the Career Portal (http://placements.umt.edu.pk) and social media platforms. Participants/Graduates are advised to visit the OCLP individually and/or in groups to get guidance on effective CV/Cover Letter development and interview types and techniques.
Q: How can OCLP help me find an internship or full-time employment?
OCLP conducts a myriad of activities to facilitate the job search. The internship and job opportunities along with upcoming event/activity news are available at the OCLP job portal which is accessible to the public. Moreover, OCLP recruits interns every two months for its own office to carry out various office related activities and tasks. For further information, participants/graduates may pay a personal visit, email or contact OCLP team.
Q. Why only personal branding sessions are done in SBE? Students from other programs will also face the same thing in future so these sessions should also be done in SST and SEN classes. Secondly, there is nothing like an extra course or internship for SST students like media students have @ UMT TV. Hence, OCLP should conduct visits of students in different software houses so they could know the current market trends which will help us in future and provide an opportunity for an internship.
OCLP strives hard to groom and mentor UMT participants to help them discover, establish and improve their personal brand. OCLP successfully conducted and executed PBW in SBE last year and also this year on the request of the school. The takeaway for us was that students need more active engagement in career-related activities and such sessions should be a regular feature for all semesters and all schools. OCLP would be willing to conduct such session, subject to desire from the school.
Another initiative of OCLP is Innovation Champions Boot Camp and Club (ICBCC) to drive and facilitate UMT students in their innovative entrepreneurial endeavors. ICBCC took around 200 students to PITB- Arfa Karim Technology Park, whereby they visited multiple initiatives including Plan-9, Plan-X, Herself, e-Rozgar and multiple other software houses. During the visit, the business proposal of one of the UMT participants got successfully accepted in Plan-9. OCLP is willing to structure solutions to all the emerging needs of the students.

Q. I have recently joined the UMT family as a participant in MS-SHRM program. I am really amazed to see how nicely all departments are contributing to grooming their students by conducting workshops, seminars, training programs, etc. The only thing that I wanted to ask OCLP if there is any possibility to conduct these training programs/workshops in evening or weekends as all working professionals who come in the evening are not able to attend these sessions.
We can arrange evening sessions as per the convenience of both OCLP and students. As soon as a group of at least 20-25 students is arranged, we will arrange a guest speaker after coordinating with the respective school.
Q. With how many industries have OCLP signed MoUs?
OCLP has signed numerous MoUs with key industry players. Information about all MoUs is mentioned on our Career Portal under the heading of Corporate Liaison. Few of the signed MoUs are with: Careerz360, Mr. COD, Dar’s Delighto, KUKS App, Pak-Qatar Family Takaful, etc.
MoUs are signed regularly with market leaders and it is a continuous process.
